First use of unique platform solution in the North West region of the UK expedites construction project.
Teams from Lyndon SGB by BrandSafway’s Manchester depot have been installing hybrid access solutions
– specifically scaffolding alongside the first regional North West use of the QuikDeck® Suspended Access System – at the iconic new arts venue in Manchester, The Factory, for client Laing O’Rourke.
The BrandSafway QuikDeck® platform system – exclusive to Lyndon SGB in the UK – has been suspended from the theatre roof, for temporary works to be carried out.
Using the safe and efficient QuikDeck® Suspended Access System, the Lyndon SGB team consisting of a five-to-six person crew were able to construct 300 square metres of suspended platform in just three days.
Prior to the installation of the suspended access platform, scaffolding teams from the Manchester branch erected a complex, in-house designed birdcage scaffold out of tube and fitting at the top of the theatre – allowing access to construct an initial 5m x 5m bay of QuikDeck®, before spanning out using the cantilever swing out feature to construct the full platform.
The QuikDeck® platform is suspended from chains from the steel work in the theatre roof. And the team then added an edge protection and platform infills to accompany the QuikDeck®.
Peter Seaton, Regional SHEQ Manager for Lyndon SGB said: “We have received some really positive feedback from the team working on this project regarding the QuikDeck® product and installation. It was without doubt a very successful first use of the QuikDeck® system within the North West region. We are pleased to continue to offer superior solutions to our customers through the QuikDeck® Suspended Access System, Taylor’s Hoists and Mastclimbers™ hybrid access solutions in the future.”
