Three Lyndon Scaffolding employees – James Iddles, Omar Choudry & Dan O’Neill – have been busy helping out at Carillion’s “Super Sunday” charity event this Autumn.
The event – arranged by Lyndon Scaffolding customers, leading construction company Carillion – was held at Lea Green near Matlock in late September. The day is designed to help children with and without sight and with a wide range of hearing, physical and mental capabilities. And our Lyndon lads volunteered to help run activities at the event, including a thrilling high-speed zip wire (pictured).
Valerie Rogers, Chair of the organising committee for Super Sunday said: “Thank you simply isn’t a big enough word… for allowing your three gentlemen to attend Super Sunday. Gestures such as this really help and allow the day to run smoothly, freeing other volunteers to work on other activities.
“We had around 500 people attend Super Sunday and enjoy a really superb day out, a day where they could join together to participate in the activities offered and most importantly they could include their child with additional needs or disabilities on an equal footing in everything that occurred.
“The children’s ages and abilities covered a broad spectrum… but all went home having had a superb day. I trust that the gents who came from Lyndon’s found it to be a rewarding – if tiring day. It means a lot to me personally that everyone rallied round to create a wonderful day for the children and I know that every child would want to thank each of you in their own way too.”
A spokesman for Lyndon’s North West team said: “It’s great to be involved in fabulous projects like this with our clients, and for such a worthy cause. As a company, we’re always looking for ways to give something back and this event gave a lot of people a great day. All it took from us was some time and graft, and we’re always up for that.”
