Lyndon SGB mental health guru, Matt Hartill was live on Adrian Chile’s BBC Radio 5 Live radio show this month – with British Heptathlon ace and TV star Denise Lewis OBE – championing mental health awareness in construction.
Matt was asked by Lendlease’s Program Director, Anna Evans, to take part in the live radio outside broadcast at the Perry Barr Residential Scheme and talk about his work championing #mentalhealthawareness – at the drop-in mental heath help centre Lyndon SGB set up on-site with Lendlease there, and his work training 100’s of mental health first aiders.
Matt said: “It was all a bit surreal really. Anna Evans asked me last week if I would get involved and I said yes. Then, all of a sudden, we are in the Perry Barr Residential Scheme boardroom, with all these mics in front of us and got told it’s going out live! My hands were shaking on the microphone to start with, but once we got underway it was brilliant.
“Denise was absolutely fantastic fun and you can clearly tell she really cares about mental health issues – she understood the issues completely and really brought them to life on air. I’ve not listened back yet, but apparently I dropped the #LyndonSGB bomb quite a few times! It was a great opportunity, a really great day and a perfect chance to raise awareness for mental health issues and help smash the stigma.”
