Lyndon Scaffolding and their hoist division have won a brace of awards from major construction clients Lend Lease – for commitment to safe scaffolding and access practices on the large-scale Elephant Park project, in the centre of Elephant and Castle, London.
The Lyndon’s teams as a whole netted the quarterly health and safety, environmental sustainability and quality award. And Gerald Slattery, Hoists Installation & Service Manager, has received an individuals quarterly award for quality on the job.
CEO Rob Lynch said: “Well done to Gerald for his individual award and the Lyndon and their hoists division teams for their group win. We are especially delighted to have received the safety award during a particularly high pressure period, when several hundred tonnes of scaffold have been dismantled and safely removed from site.
“Personally, I am really pleased with the whole team on and off-site – from design & engineering, to scaffolding, logistics and SHEQ – for their continued long-term commitment to the highest Lyndon Scaffolding/Hoists division safety values on what is massively impressive and important construction project.”
Mark Collinson, Lyndon’s Regional SHEQ Manager added: “It has been a busy quarter for us with a huge amount of scaffold dismantled and removed from site safely.”
Colm McMahon, Lend Lease Project Health and Safety Manager said: “Gerry won the quarterly quality award for all his good work and quality workmanship installing and dismantling hoists on MP2 and MP3 phases. Lyndon Scaffolding won the team of the quarter award for their continued safe dismantling of the scaffolding on the MP2 phase.”
Lendlease is working in partnership with Southwark Council to deliver a GBP £2.3 billion regeneration programme on 28 acres of land in the centre of Elephant & Castle. Situated in London’s Zone 1 and Lyndon Scaffolding has been chosen to provide extensive access solutions on various phases of the works – including complex scaffolding and hoist vertical access.
Lyndon Scaffolding the hoist division have worked together to deliver a major temporary access system to facilitate the residential schemes (a large number of apartment blocks), with the tallest structure over 100m high.
The site includes a combination of traditional tube and fitting and HAKI system scaffolding solutions to overcome the significant challenges of such a multifaceted job.
The scaffolding works have been completed over two years and the final scaffolds will be dismantled early in the new year of 2019. The hoist division will continue working on the project and by the time the new phases of work are completed, the division will have an unbroken period of service of over five years on the iconic London construction job.
